Description

This Caucasian Gendje prayer rug dates to the late 19th century. It has a well balanced field design on a desirable white ground and with jewel-like colours. The Mihrab with a comb motif is flanked by two pairs of animals on either side, with three further animals along the left-hand edge of the field. Two reciprocal borders enclose the main border.

Wool on a wool foundation. Minor repairs, but overall very good condition
