Blaue Grotte Connemara carpet woven in Ireland at around 1950.

Wool on canvas, mounted on a wooden frame, with original label on the back saying “Connemara Carpet Handmade in Ireland”. The label has a stamp adding “The Republic of” to the woven word “Ireland”.  This was, presumably, added after The Republic of Ireland Act of 1948.

This is an interesting work of its time.
